Hello!
You find us mid-Carnival season here in New Orleans! We’re heading for what the locals call ‘Deep Gras’. The parades are coming thick and fast, and half of all our daily caloric intake is King Cake. There’s still time to think about joining us for the big day - Fat Tuesday falls on Feb 17th this year. If this is stirring up any sense of missing out (and it IS the world’s biggest free party, after all), then why not think about booking your 2027 Mardi Gras trip right now? March sees festival season kick into gear in the build up to Jazz Fest - the city’s book festival and St Patrick’s Day parades take place, as well as the marching, masking Indians of Super Sunday and the Tennessee Williams Festival. It’s one of the best times of the year to be here, with idyllic spring weather, crawfish season and the magic of Mardi Gras that lingers in the air, even after the last parade rolls. Come and see Mabel and I soon! Happy Mardi Gras! FEBRUARY 8th Krewe of Barkus Costumed dogs delight the French Quarter in this beloved parade! 12th Krewe of Muses Painted shoes are the prized throws from this always-popular parade. 14th Krewe of Endymion The biggest super krewe makes its way through Mid City. 15th Krewe of Bacchus The god of wine is suitably celebrated at this raucous parade. 16th Lundi Gras The day before the big day itself is always a very fun time to explore the city. 17th Mardi Gras Day Including the famous Rex and Zulu parades! 20th Tet Fest: Vietnamese New Year An annual winter festival celebrating the Vietnamese New Year. Attendees can enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisine, dance and music, children’s activities, and firework displays. MARCH 11th Wednesday at the Square - Free Concert Series A series of free outdoor concerts featuring well-known local artists. The weekly concert series highlights a variety of indigenous musical styles, including jazz, rock, funk, swamp-pop, Latin rhythms, and more! 12th New Orleans Book Festival A four day, in-person literary celebration featuring more than 100 national, regional, and local authors, including some of the nation’s favorite bestsellers. 14th Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade Floats, marching bands, and revelers dressed in green. Watch out for flying cabbages! 15th Mardi Gras Indians Uptown Super Sunday A day for the city's Mardi Gras Indian tribes to put on their colorful suits and "strut their stuff" while marching in a procession through the streets. 25th Tennessee Williams & New Orleans Literary Festival Each year, the festival assembles top playwrights, authors, actors, and speakers for literary panels and to provide master classes with other published authors. There are theatrical performances of original works, readings, cocktail parties, culinary events, book signings, movie screenings, literary walking tours and more. #neworleans #mardigras #bedandbreakfast
