International Dance Festival (Sept 10–13)
The festival is a culmination of classes and performances that celebrate cross-cultural exchange, hosted at the Contemporary Arts Center. It draws contemporary dance artists from around the world alongside performers from the Gulf South region.
 
New Orleans Fashion Week (Sept 20–26)
Now in its 16th season, this event showcases fashion professionals in runway shows, presentations, and pop-up boutiques across the city.


New Orleans Cocktail Week (Sept 21–27)
A week-long celebration showcasing the city's top bars, restaurants, and mixologists. It's a festival that highlights award-winning bars, restaurants, and distilleries, bringing locals and visitors together over signature cocktails.
 
International Arts Festival (Sept 24–27)
A citywide showcase spotlighting visual and performing artists from New Orleans and abroad. It spans multiple venues and blends exhibitions with live performances and cultural exchange.

National Fried Chicken Festival (Oct 2nd–4th)
A popular culinary event celebrating the country's best fried chicken, local food vendors, and live music.


Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival (Oct 9th–11th)
Held at Lafayette Square, this free public event features top regional blues and R&B musicians alongside great barbecue.


Gentilly Fest (Oct 9th–11th)
Located at Pontchartrain Park, it celebrates the food, music, and culture of the Gentilly neighborhood.


New Orleans Film Festival (Oct 22nd–27th)
An internationally recognized event showcasing independent films, documentaries, and shorts from emerging and veteran filmmakers.


LASPCA Carnival (Oct 24th)
Party for a purpose:  eat, drink and enjoy the music of George Porter Jr, all in aid of the animals.

New Orleans' official Halloween parade featuring stunning float designs, marching bands, and throws.

It’s the height of summer here, but our festivals just adapt to the slightly slower pace, and we don’t lose focus on all-out enjoyment! One of the best things about August is COOLinary - the city’s best restaurants all offer amazing, discounted menus so it’s the best time to try out any of those newly-recognized-by-Michelin places you’ve been meaning to tick off! Festivals take on a local slant, but visitors are more than welcome! White and Dirty Linen nights exhibit the full range of our artistic talents, and meanwhile, the football season is not so quietly kicking off again, so if you’re itching to see the Saints, then your time has come. A charity “run” in New Orleans, Red Dress Run is hosted by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers. This local drinking club hosts the world’s most unique running event. All locals and visitors attend this annual event dressed in red attire - specifically, dresses. The event involves a two-mile run beginning at Crescent Park in the Bywater.

We’re well into festival season here in the Crescent City, which means perfect weather, al fresco seafood boils and the city at its liveliest (outside of Mardi Gras!). The city’s biggest music festival, Jazz Fest, spans two long weekends in late April and this year had headliners such as  Jon Batiste, The Eagles, Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, and David Byrne. If you want to join a more intimate, locals-focused festival, then French Quarter Fest is the way to go, and in May, Bayou Boogaloo and Greek Fest take place in the idyllic environs of Bayou St John. It really is the perfect time to come and visit us, especially if you find yourself thinking about a spontaneous trip - there’s bound to be a festival or a touring Broadway show, but even just walking around the city at this time of year is heavenly. If you’re feeling more organized, you might want to start thinking about your Halloween or Fall trips - another great time to be here, and if you book now, you'll have your pick of a great time at Chez Palmiers. Keith Lee's Familee Day
Making its New Orleans debut, this new festival brings together food, music, and family-friendly fun. Created to uplift overlooked restaurants and small businesses, the festival features a curated food village hand-selected by Keith Lee, alongside carnival rides, and merchandise.

New Orleans Shakespeare Festival
This popular theatrical festival, held at theaters in Tulane University, begins with one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays: King Lear.

Greek Fest New Orleans
The sounds of Greek music fill the air, as does the wonderful aroma of Greek food during this indoor and outdoor fete. There is dancing and feasting, and of course ouzo – sold by the bottle or the shot at the quaint taverna set up at the festival. There are also Greek wines to sample along with iced Greek coffee. There are kids activities and fabulous, colorful arts and crafts for sale.

You find us mid-Carnival season here in New Orleans! We’re heading for what the locals call ‘Deep Gras’. The parades are coming thick and fast, and half of all our daily caloric intake is King Cake. There’s still time to think about joining us for the big day - Fat Tuesday falls on Feb 17th this year. If this is stirring up any sense of missing out (and it IS the world’s biggest free party, after all), then why not think about booking your 2027 Mardi Gras trip right now?   March sees festival season kick into gear in the build up to Jazz Fest - the city’s book festival and St Patrick’s Day parades take place, as well as the marching, masking Indians of Super Sunday and the Tennessee Williams Festival. A very happy 2026 to you wherever you are, and all of our heartiest best wishes for the New Year! January in New Orleans always heralds the start of Carnival season - this year it’s a shortish one as Mardi Gras lands relatively early (Fat Tuesday is on 17th Feb this year). As always, though, the first parades begin on Twelfth Night (6th January) and then it’s floats and costumes galore for the next six weeks or so! All of our bed and breakfast inns put you close to the parade routes and the various hubs of jollity, so pack a costume and book that trip to join us for the world’s biggest party! The streets are already transforming themselves, as houses decorate in carnival colors, and there’s nothing like the atmosphere around the neighborhoods for this very special time of year. See below for some of the major dates -we are ready and waiting with a slice of King Cake and some beads for y’all. Come and help us let those good times roll!

Twelfth Night
The official start of 2025’s Carnival season! The traditional first parades, including Jean d’Arc and the Phunny Phorty Phellows ring in the celebrations that will last up to Mardi Gras day itself.

The city’s favorite seasonal confection is once again available! There are dozens of variations to try, so hit up your local bakery and find out which flavors they’re serving up this year!

Fan Expo
This convention turns the city of New Orleans into a playground filled with cosplay, anime, horror, and gaming. There will also be huge celebrities in attendance, including Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

Teaser Fest
A four-day celebration of burlesque and New Orleans' food, craft cocktails, and live entertainment.

Algiers Mardi Gras Festival
A free, festive, family-friendly event held on the last Saturday of January. Get into the Mardi Gras spirit with a community parade, food and music.


Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus
A 900-member Krewe with over 150 sub-krewes all paying homage to Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.

Comprised of many smaller walking krewes, including the Krewe of Goddesses, The Merry Antoinettes and the Glambeaux.

Krewe du Vieux / Krewedelusion
Founded in 1987, KdV is one of the earliest parades of the New Orleans Carnival calendar. In the old tradition, it is noted for wild satirical and adult themes, as well as for showcasing some of the best brass and traditional jazz bands in New Orleans

Réveillon is a holiday dining tradition. Dating back to the 1800s, Creole New Orleanians would feast on lavish meals following midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Restaurants across the city have adopted this tradition, offering decadent multi-course Réveillon feasts throughout the entire month of December.

Children’s Hospital New Orleans Holiday Parade
Expect large, pageant-style floats with animatronics, local musicians atop the floats singing carols, helium balloons, and Santa Claus, of course!

Algiers Bonfire + Concert
Hop on the ferry over to Algiers Point. This community hosts their own event celebrating the time-honored Louisiana tradition with performances from local groups, food, drink, and art vendors, and the lighting of the bonfire!

Every year during the holidays, New Orleanians decorate their homes in festive seasonal décor, and some open their doors for public viewing. The Preservation Resource Center’s Garden District Holiday Home Tour features a selection of private homes, live musical performances, a festive boutique, and more!

Just as those chilly cold fronts hit most of the country, it’s absolutely the perfect time to visit us here in New Orleans. It’s idyllic weather on the Gulf Coast, warm and sunny enough to enjoy the outdoors with enough fall weather to make those bowls of gumbo extra satisfying. Food comes to the fore at this time of year as November has a few high-profile festivals, celebrating po-boys, beignets and of course those famous gumbo recipes! This monthly will also see the Michelin organization announce which local restaurants have been honored with their famous stars, handed out only to the world’s best spots. We should know more early this month, so watch the news headlines and be quick with your bookings to be first in line at those newly-anointed hotspots. If you love brass bands and gumbo – or, better yet, enjoying some delicious gumbo while listening to brass bands playing live in beautiful Louis Armstrong Park – this is the event for you! Tremé Creole Gumbo Festival returns with lots of live music, and arts market, and of course, gumbo!

Beignet Fest
Hailed as one of the best food festivals in the south!  Celebrate the city’s most iconic treat - you can try beignets topped or stuffed with a variety of sweet or savory delicacies.

Oak Street Po' Boy Festival
The Oak Street Po-Boy Festival highlights not only the importance of the po-boy itself, but also the rebirth of a once-thriving shopping district with roots as deep as the neighborhood itself. It’s a block party with multiple stages of live music, and an arts market. Expect po-boys with everything from oysters Rockefeller to smoked beef cheek to deep fried buffalo shrimp banh mi and vegan oyster mushroom.

Celebration in the Oaks
